Solinst
Model 103
Tag Line
The Solinst 103 "Tag Line"
uses a 0.7kg weight attached to a 1.6mm stranded stainless steel cable
with a minimal break strength of 122kg. The weight has tapered ends to
minimize snagging in the borehole and can be clipped on and off the cable.
The cable is marked at one metre intervals with low profile bonded
markings. Each Tag Line is supplied with a tape guide to protect damage to
the cable at the edge of the well casing.
Model
103 Operating Principles
The Solinst Tag Line uses a weight attached to
marked cable, and is designed for use in the installation of monitoring
wells.
It can be used to measure the depth to the bottom of
a well, or the depth to the top of a backfill sand or bentonite layer
during completion of a well.
The Tag Line uses 1/16” (1.6 mm.) stranded
stainless steel wireline with a minimum break strength of 270 lbs. (122
Kg.)
The 304 stainless steel weight is 1.5 lbs. (680 g).
It has tapered ends to minimize hang-ups during deployment and return to
surface and can be clipped on and off the cable. This allows the use of
the reel-mounted, marked cable for other uses, such as bailer deployment.
The cable is mounted on a sturdy, free-standing reel
with a carrying handle, weight holder and a brake.
Ideal for use when installing Solinst
Model 403 CMT Multilevel Systems, the tag line comes in a standard
length of 300 ft. (100 m.), but is also available in longer lengths, if
requested.

Markings
Low-profile markings are bonded in place every foot
or every 5 feet (1/2 m. or one meter). They are fixed firmly to the cable
and are designed to remain in place while maintaining a smooth cable.
More frequent markings are available, for
convenience and improved accuracy, as an optional extra.
