What's New in Version 3?
- Source files now only require Station names. It is no longer necessary to add numeric station ID's to each record in your source table
- A number of map projection systems have been added
- New HydroGeo Analyst database templates have been added. All database templates are now provided in both metric and imperial length units
- Database fields now support images in all data categories
- You may now display map ready queries in the project's projection system. When such queries are executed, X and Y coordinates are displayed in the current projection system
- Improved options for contouring including user-defined contour intervals
- Kriging and Inverse Distance interpolation methods have been included for creating contour maps and gridded data sets

Chemistry Data
Equally as important as defining the physical geology, is the need to qualitatively and quantitatively report analytical lab results for air, water, and soil chemistry data. HydroGeo Analyst is ideal for handling chemistry data from a wide range of sources and is not constrained to any particular lab reporting formats. HydroGeo Analyst will give you the ability to access, manage, and report your laboratory data as requested by regulatory agencies.

The GIS Map Manager is built on ESRITM technology and is packed with an abundance of GIS mapping features that seamlessly connect your project maps with the HydroGeo Analyst database. However, the GIS Map Manager goes far beyond simple mapping, it also acts as a fundamental source for producing cross-sections, accessing borehole logs and well construction details, and developing contour maps (elevations, concentrations, water table, etc.). The GIS Map Manager an integral part of HydroGeo Analyst and is ideally-suited for analyzing and presenting the spatial orientation of your any groundwater or borehole project data.

Since HydroGeo Analyst stores station data and various quantitive datum within its core, HydroGeo Analyst was designed with contouring tools that pull data directly from the source. GIS Map Manager: Thematic Mapping
HydroGeo Analyst offers thematic mapping functionality to help graphically display the distribution of a single attribute/characteristic or the relationship between several attributes. For environmental professionals, thematic maps are extremely useful in covering a wide variety of characteristics such as displaying the relationships between:
- Wells with head elevations above or below ground surface (Artesian conditions)
- Groundwater pumping volumes and precipitation (Recharge potential)
- Layer thickness from ground surface to subsequent layers (Aggregate exploration)
- Soil types (sand versus clay) and aquifer vulnerability to contamination

Cross-Section Editor
Groundwater and environmental site investigations typically entail detailed analysis of lithologic data acquired from boreholes. Interpreting and visualizing the borehole data is a crucial step in understanding the subsurface regime. HydroGeo Analyst comes complete with a fully-integrated cross-section tool that is designed with all the features you need to create dazzling, report-ready geologic/hydrogeologic cross-section interpretations. Simply draw your cross-section in the GIS Map Manager, automatically render the cross-section line, and start interpreting your boreholes directly within the Cross-Section Editor. It's really that simple!
The Cross-Section Editor is designed with easy-to-use tools for interpreting geological and hydrogeological data, as well as interpreting data for groundwater flow models. Generating model layers for use as modeling layer elevations in groundwater modeling packages such as Visual MODFLOW Pro had never been easier!
In addition, the Cross-Section Editor is seamlessly integrated with the HydroGeo Analyst 3D-Explorer, a tool that combines and displays one or more cross-sections in a 3D fence diagram view!
The Cross-Section Editor allows for three types of data interpretations:
- Geologic Interpretations: layers representing unique geologic formations at the site
- Hydrogeologic Interpretations: layers representing hydrogeologic properties at the site (aquifer, confined aquifer, aquitard, aquiclude, etc)
- Model Interpretations: defined layers used in groundwater modeling

- Digitize geologic and hydrogeologic layers using the polygon draw tool
- Select standard cross-section fill patterns from the Geology Layer Pattern tool
- Switch between all three interpretation types with a simply click of a button
- Edit polygon or line vertices on-the-fly (move, add, or delete)
- Lock vertices to maintain a consistent boundary between polygons
- Apply a buffer setting to automatically snap lines to vertices and boundaries
- Digitize model layers using the line draw tool

HGA 3D-Explorer
HydroGeo Analyst 3D-Explorer is a powerful 3D visualization and animation package that is seamlessly integrated within HydroGeo Analyst. HGA 3D-Explorer was designed as a tool for displaying multiple cross-sections/fence diagrams, well locations with lithology, maps, contours, etc., all within the same 3D graphical environment. HGA 3D-Explorer brings your data and data queries to life and takes the guessing out of data interpretation. With just one click of a button, you can explore your data!

- Render colorful, high-impact, 2D/3D views of any number of cross-sections
- Views cross-sections as geologic, hydrogeology, or model layers
- Simultaneously view boreholes with lithology, and cross-sections in full 3D
- Auto-rotate the model image around the X, Y, Z axis
- Record and save animations during auto-rotation

The HydroGeo Analyst 3D-Explorer offers a truly unique perspective of the entire site, through its ability to display multiple cross-sections simultaneously; this perspective is not possible when viewing individual 2D cross sections. In addition, basemaps may be displayed for relating the fence diagrams to surface features. The various graphical tools and presentation formats available are specifically designed for viewing geology and hydrogeology data.
The HydroGeo Analyst 3D-Explorer, in addition to displaying fence diagrams, can also be used to create surfaces for each layer involved in the interpretation. Use the HydroGeo Analyst 3D-Explorer to import basemaps, or shape files containing any type of data, and relate this to the cross-section interpretations. For example, a contour map or DXF site map may be overlaid on top of multiple fence diagrams.

Borehole Log Plotter
The Borehole Log Plotter is a built-in borehole log component developed with a full range of features the support the design and plotting of professional borehole logs and well construction details. Once the borehole template is defined, logs can be generated quickly and efficiently for all boreholes in the project. Automated data links reduce the need for user intervention!
